Eddie (Tom Hardy) is a beloved journalist who has been in a loving relationship with his girlfriend Anne (Michelle Williams) for many years. Anne is a lawyer who takes on a case for the Life Foundation, and in her email, Eddie discovers a hidden secret of the foundation's owner, Drake (Riz Ahmed). As a result, Eddie not only loses his job, but also his girlfriend. Afterward, Dr. Dora (Jenny Slate) from the Life Foundation approaches Eddie, hoping he can help her stop Drake's reckless crimes. In the Life Foundation's laboratory, Eddie discovers evidence of Drake's human experiments and accidentally becomes bonded with an alien symbiote, Venom.
