Renowned both at home and abroad, the magic man Shi Yijian (played by Chow Yun-fat), former chief security consultant for U.S. casinos, returns to Macau for retirement and hosts a birthday party to celebrate with friends. Among his friends are Benz (played by Kwan Shau-hung) and his son Leng (played by Nicholas Tse) along with his nephew Niu Bishi (played by Chapman To), who specially traveled from Hong Kong to congratulate him. The next day, police from the mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau unexpectedly join forces to seek out Shi Yijian, hoping he can return to help deal with Mr. Gao (played by Gao Hu) from the DOA organization. However, Yijian politely declines, citing his retirement. Meanwhile, Leng and Niu Bishi approach Yijian, hoping he will take them as disciples. Although Yijian appreciates Leng, he sadly has to refuse due to his retirement but offers them hospitality for one night. Unbeknownst to them, that night they encounter an assassin (played by Zhang Jin) who pursues Leng and Yijian's beloved daughter A Cai (played by Tong Fei) without explanation. Though saved by Chinese police officer Luo Xin (played by Jing Tian), A Cai ultimately suffers a fate worse than death, leading to her amnesia. Through investigation and exploration, it is revealed that the mastermind behind the chaos is Mr. Gao. How could these events have happened for no reason? Yijian, Leng, and Officer Luo Xin join forces to devise clever plans to confront Mr. Gao, engaging in a battle of wits and strength, determined to uncover the truth and bring him to justice...
