In a future world, Earth has been devastated by a catastrophic nuclear war. The once-mighty superpower of the United States has been reduced to ashes through a series of self-destructive wars. Now, with cities like Washington at the center, high walls isolate the nuclear-contaminated land outside, and the remaining 800 million humans live in a confined space known as Mega-City One. Humanity has never learned from its past, and various heinous crimes continue to emerge, staining the ground with blood. During this time, a group of violent enforcers known as "Judges" has been established, and the cold and capable Dredd (played by Karl Urban) is one of them. He takes on the role of training evaluator for newcomer Cassandra Anderson (played by Olivia Thirlby) as they investigate seemingly endless violent cases in the city.
