A young girl from a small town, Lou (Emilia Clarke), applies to be a caregiver for a man named Will (Sam Claflin). Will once lived a wealthy life, loved freedom, and enjoyed adventures around the world. However, a terrible car accident shattered his spine, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down, which means he will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Thus, Lou unintentionally begins her shared life with Will, but Will quickly realizes that Lou is completely different from his previous caregivers. Her bold and carefree personality leads her to openly discuss her pain, and this courageous confrontation with harsh realities brings a fresh perspective to Will. With Lou's companionship, Will gradually starts to rediscover the feeling of happiness, and Lou's strength makes him begin to seriously contemplate his future.
