Little Fish (played by Xu Jinglei) has always lived with her mother until her mother unexpectedly passed away in high school. It is then that she meets her father, Lao Yu (played by Ye Daming), for the first time and starts living with him. Lao Yu is a typical Beijingite who often stays out at night, leaving Little Fish feeling very insecure. However, her stubbornness leads her to manage her own life without complaining to her father. As Little Fish grows up, she falls in love, gets married, and brings her husband home for dinner.
