The story takes place in an ancient temple called "Sanbao Temple", where the news of the abbot's impending nirvana stirs up turmoil in the martial arts world. This is because the temple holds the precious handwritten scripture "Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana", and whoever can inherit the abbot's mantle will gain this priceless treasure. The abbot has three disciples, and passing on the robe is a significant matter, so the abbot invites General Wang (Tian Feng), benefactor Wen An (Sun Yue), and Master Wu Wai (Wu Jiaxiang).
