The story takes place at the end of the Ming Dynasty, where Hou Chaozong (played by Feng Zhe) is the leader of the scholar organization "Fu She," which mainly targets the treacherous minister Ruan Dacheng (played by Han Tao) for criticism. Hou Chaozong's integrity and literary talent attract the attention of the famous courtesan Li Xiangjun (played by Wang Danfeng), and the two quickly fall in love and decide to marry.
