Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is just an ordinary high school student in America. One day, after being bitten by a genetically altered spider that escaped from a museum, Peter's life is completely transformed. He becomes like a spider, gaining various unique superpowers: shooting incredibly strong spider silk from his fingertips, climbing walls, and more. Peter is thrilled and begins to use his superpowers to make money. However, after his beloved uncle is killed by a criminal he let go, Peter vows to use his powers to fight crime. Peter's friend Harry's father, Norman (Willem Dafoe), is the owner of a biotechnology company, troubled that the military isn't impressed with the aircraft produced by his company. During an accident, Norman inhales nerve gas and gains superpowers, unleashing his evil nature as he goes around wreaking havoc and killing people while riding his own developed aircraft. Spider-Man, the alter ego of Peter, is ready to strike back!
