Léon (played by Jean Reno) is a lonely professional hitman, hired for his services. One day, a young girl from his neighbor’s house, Mathilda (played by Natalie Portman), knocks on his door seeking refuge from a killing threat. It turns out that the owner of the neighbor's house is an informant for the police drug enforcement team, and the entire family was punished by a corrupt cop (played by Gary Oldman) for embezzling a small package of drugs. Mathilda finds shelter with Léon and stays with him. Léon teaches the girl how to use a gun, and she teaches him French; their relationship grows increasingly close and harmonious. The girl thinks about seeking revenge but gets caught instead, and Léon arrives just in time to rescue her. The battle between good and evil, filled with sorrow and vendetta, escalates, leading to inevitable greater conflict...
