The leader of the Heaven and Earth Society, Hung Ba (played by Chiba Shinichi), desires to conquer the world and seeks the fortune teller, the Mud Bodhisattva (played by Lai Yiu Cheung), for predictions. The Mud Bodhisattva prophesizes his first half of life: “A golden-scaled fish is not just a creature in the pond, but once it meets the storm, it will transform into a dragon.” Hence, Hung Ba orders the selection of two children as apprentices, whose birthdates must align with the prophecy to assist Hung Ba in his grand ambitions. They are Nie Feng (played by Cheng Yi Kin) and Bu Jing Yun (played by Aaron Kwok), but in reality, both have a deep-seated enmity with Hung Ba. Growing up with their senior brother Qin Shuang and Hung Ba's daughter Kong Ci (played by Yang Gong Ru), Feng and Yun become skilled in martial arts, and the Heaven and Earth Society nearly dominates the martial arts world. However, their arch-rival, the Sword Saint, keeps Hung Ba on edge, but "success or failure hinges on Feng and Yun."
