Brandon (played by Michael Fassbender) is a well-dressed white-collar worker in New York. He has a passion for adult films, is accustomed to masturbation, and indulges in casual relationships. However, his relationship with his sister Sissy (played by Carey Mulligan) is tumultuous. Sissy often leaves him voicemails, but he consistently avoids her. Yet, when Sissy moves in with him, he shows a special concern for her. Brandon and his boss attend Sissy's singing performance, where his boss is captivated by her charm, while Brandon is moved to tears by her singing. In front of his sister, Brandon acts indifferent, while his boss boldly pursues her, which leaves Brandon feeling extremely ashamed. One day, after a video call with his family, his boss criticizes Brandon for filling his computer hard drive with adult films, calling it a disgrace. Frustrated, Brandon lashes out at his sister, leaving her very upset. Brandon once dated the company's black female secretary but realizes that what he truly cannot let go of is not his sexual addiction, but the bond he shares with his sister... Michael Fassbender won the Best Actor award at the 68th Venice Film Festival for this film
