In the 1930s, the Shanghai Changfu Circus, famous for its aerial acts, was touring everywhere, facing constant challenges. It was only with the collective effort of the headmaster, Master Shen (played by Wu Ma), along with his apprentices and daughter, that they managed to overcome one hurdle after another. During one performance, Japanese planes dropped bombs, destroying all of the circus's facilities. Although the troupe members narrowly escaped, in the face of national crisis, they had to go their separate ways. Master Shen, along with his eldest daughter Ding Mei (played by Li Lili), second daughter Ding Lan (played by Wen Bixia), third daughter Ding Ju (played by Hu Yingwen), son-in-law Yi Tian (played by Lin Wei), and several young apprentices, headed south to seek refuge with his brother there. The mischievous apprentice Le Yidong (played by Yuan Biao) also followed them. With no security under a fallen nest, the people they relied on each faced their own difficulties. Yi Dong and others had to secretly perform on the streets without telling Master Shen, where they met the righteous police captain Tang Fa (played by Donnie Yen) and encountered various injustices in a chaotic world...
