Wang Wei-ye (played by Daniel Wu) has been a police officer for seventeen years. Due to childhood and family issues, he is extremely anxious internally but also upholds a strong sense of justice, which leads him to be overly rigid in his interactions, resulting in communication difficulties with colleagues. One night while stationed in the emergency room, Wei-ye gives blood to a critically injured patient with a rare blood type, only to discover that the patient is Han Jiang (played by Sean Lau), the leader of a notorious bank robbery gang. Wei-ye faces condemnation from his colleagues because of this, and soon after, Han Jiang escapes and leads his gang to commit heinous crimes, resulting in the death of Wei-ye's colleague during a shootout. As the saying goes, “Man proposes, God disposes,” and the rampant Han Jiang never anticipated being mercilessly consumed by his own desires. Meanwhile, Wei-ye's mental state deteriorates, and he refuses psychological counseling, obsessively tracking Han Jiang's associates like a ghost. He witnesses betrayal and murder while also watching the collapse of his strong inner convictions…
