Once a peaceful and prosperous kingdom, Alagaësia is now under the tyrannical rule of the evil king (played by John Malkovich), with the oppressed people hoping for divine salvation. One day, a farm boy named Eragon (played by Ed Speleers) finds a mysterious stone in the forest, which unexpectedly turns out to be a dragon egg, hatching into a blue dragon. Eragon names the dragon "Saphira," and after meeting the prophet Brom (played by Jeremy Irons), he learns about the significance of this event— the dragon riders who once protected this land are meant to return and help the people regain their freedom. Under Brom's guidance, Eragon begins to learn swordsmanship and dragon-riding skills, slowly transforming from an ordinary boy into a dragon rider with great responsibilities. The path ahead is fraught with danger, but it leads to light... This film is based on the novel of the same name and is the first installment of the "Inheritance Trilogy."
