On a sunny day, a somewhat wooden and clumsy young man (played by Buster Keaton) is playing golf with a group of gentlemen and ladies. Despite wanting to impress a girl he likes, the young man is truly unfortunate; he either misses the swing and falls to the ground or has his ball directly fall into the water. After much effort, when he finally gets to the last shot, his ball is snatched away by an overly curious dog. Even a group of elderly women seems to make trouble for him. Of course, these mishaps are nothing compared to the bigger disaster waiting ahead. In a certain prison, Prisoner No. 13 escapes from confinement, attracting a large group of guards in pursuit. He escapes to the vicinity of a golf course and happens to see the young man who has fainted on the ground. He puts his striped prison uniform on the young man. After a while, the young man wakes up and continues playing golf, completely unaware that he has become a prisoner slated for the gallows...
