The old man (played by Qiao Hong) has three sons. The eldest son, Lao Liang (played by Huang Baoming), is so busy with work that he neglects his wife, Xianshu (played by Wu Yongwei), who manages the household every day but is misunderstood by her husband as having an affair. The second son, Lao Fei, uses studying as an escape from society; he is simple-minded, yearns for love but suffers from heartbreak, until he eventually meets Xiao Lian (played by Wu Qianlian) from the north. On the occasion of the youngest son Lao Gong's birthday, who is usually notorious and flirtatious, the two older brothers give him a lottery ticket as a gift, which is actually an expired winning ticket. He believes it to be real and ends up in huge debt. To make matters worse, he gets into a car accident, suffers a concussion, and becomes somewhat deranged…
