"The Kids," directed by Italian filmmaker Giuseppe Bonito, was released in 2020 and tells the story of a loving couple choosing to have a second child in a society where the birth rate is almost zero. Nicola, Sara, and their daughter Anna initially form a happy family of three, living a comfortable life, but the arrival of their second son, Pietro, disrupts this balance. They face various challenges in raising their children, with both sets of parents unable to help, leading them to feel isolated and at times on the verge of collapse. Previously concealed conflicts gradually surface, particularly the pent-up dissatisfaction that explodes within the wife, bringing their marriage to a crisis point. Moreover, the constant bickering between the couple starts to affect their oldest daughter's mental health. The film seems to explore the reasons behind the current low birth rate, paralleling the various "parenting crises" faced by other parents, including single fathers, large families, and affluent parents who neglect their children. Regarding the issues of these children, are they "making unreasonable demands," or are they expressing valid claims? Can Nicola and Sara resolve their crisis? (Ps: The male lead previously played the mama's boy Lele, misidentified as gay by his wife, in the film "Perfect Strangers.") @Wanwansubtitle group
