James (Ian Bannen) is a moderately successful banker who, by chance, meets a woman named Penelope (Natalie Wood). Penelope's charming and lovely demeanor quickly captivates James, and not long after they meet, they enter the realm of marriage. What Penelope didn't expect was that the fickle James would fall in love with another woman shortly after their wedding. In her sadness and anger, Penelope decides to show James a lesson. After a disguise, Penelope robs James's bank as a thief, and afterward, she reveals her actions to her therapist Greg (Dick Shawn). However, Greg does not believe Penelope's story because he has already fallen deeply in love with this charming girl.
