Sherly (played by Amanda Bynes) lost her mother when she was very young. In search of her mother’s footsteps, this year she enrolls in her mother’s former university — the South Pacific University. As a new student, Sherly applies to join the sorority, but soon realizes that it’s filled with blonde, blue-eyed rich girls, led by a girl named Rachel (played by Sara Paxton) who holds all the power. Rachel is extremely jealous, and when she learns that her boyfriend has feelings for the innocent new girl, she quickly tries to exclude her. With no other options, Sherly moves out of the sorority dorm and into a regular dorm. Sherly meets seven strange boys who have also faced rejection, and they soon bond. Sherly decides to rally the eight of them to challenge Rachel's controlling student council; she wants to run for the next student council president! Will this unexpected idea ultimately succeed?
