The first animated feature film, "White Plastic Sky," created over seven years by Hungarian directors Tibor Bánóczki and Sarolta Szabó, depicts a near-future world where the surviving human population can only live under greenhouse domes. Upon turning 50, individuals must be transformed into trees to ensure the continuation of their species. A wife, unable to endure the pain of losing her child, decides to secretly undergo the transformation into a tree, while her devoted husband embarks on a desperate journey to save her. The film transforms environmental anxieties into a long poem about the pursuit of love, employing live-action rotoscope techniques to add intricate characters and exciting action scenes within a cold, sci-fi narrative, blending real scenes with futuristic imagination to create a psychedelic yet brutal dystopian world. It has not only received a nomination for Best Independent Animated Feature at the Annie Awards, a special mention at the Zagreb Animation Festival, and a silver award at the Strasbourg Fantastique Film Festival, but has also attracted invitations for screenings at various major film festivals.
