After a lifetime of hard work, Hirata Shuuzou (played by Koji Hashizume) retires. Now, this old man enjoys leisurely days playing golf with his old friends, and after some fun, he teases the charming izakaya owner, Kayo (played by Jun Fubuki), enjoying a delightful life. One day, when he returns home as usual, drunkenly, his seemingly obedient wife, Fukuko (played by Kazuko Yoshiyuki), unexpectedly requests a divorce, shocking Shuuzou and sobering him up significantly. The next day, Fukuko still hasn't changed her mind, which causes Shuuzou's mood to worsen. With their parents' marriage crumbling, other members of the Hirata family are also affected: eldest son Yukinobu (played by Masahiko Nishimura), daughter-in-law Shie (played by Yui Natsukawa), daughter Naruko (played by Tomoko Nakajima), son-in-law Taizou (played by Seizou Hayashiya), youngest son Shouta (played by Satoshi Tsukamoto) and his girlfriend Noriko (played by Yu Aoi) become embroiled in the turmoil.
A glimpse into the noisy joys and sorrows of an ordinary family in Tokyo...
