In the early years of the Republic of China, the railway from Shanghai to Chengdu was in operation. The departure of the first train attracted the attention of the gangsters because it was filled with wealthy families. They colluded with mountain bandits to plan a robbery along the way. The opportunistic Cheng Qitian (played by Sammo Hung) also set his sights on this train. To board it, he decided to blow up a section of the railroad in his hometown of Hanshui Town as a distraction. Unfortunately, Cheng Qitian was recognized by the local security chief, Cao Zhuojian (played by Yuen Biao), who intended to capture him. Cheng Qitian narrowly escaped the pursuit and successfully blew up the railroad. This inadvertently helped the mountain bandits, who began to besiege Hanshui Town. Realizing that his hometown was about to be destroyed by the bandits, Cheng and Cao decided to join forces to fight against the strong enemy.
