The eldest brother of the Chang family, Chang Man (played by Huang Baiming), is successful in his career but despises his wife, Sister Cheng (played by Ng Jun-rue), for being a plain woman who doesn't know how to dress up. Sister Cheng takes care of her elderly, senile in-laws at home every day and is deeply loved by Chang Sao (played by Leslie Cheung) and Chang Huan (played by Stephen Chow). The effeminate Chang Sao and his "tomboy" cousin Liang Wushuang (played by Mao Shunjun) are bitter rivals, but when both experience emotional pain, they develop feelings for each other. Chang Huan, a notorious playboy, accidentally injures his head and his girlfriend, He Liyu (played by Maggie Cheung), is still willing to stay by his side. While everyone has someone they care for, they need to help the eldest brother find a way to rekindle his feelings for Sister Cheng.
