Three hundred years ago, the villagers of a fishing village on an island killed a group of officers escorting tribute and inadvertently awakened a Qin corpse, sealing it with the power of treasures. Since then, the villagers have relied on their ancestral wealth without engaging in production. The island's police officer, Shi Chun (played by Yuan Kui), suspects the villagers of drug production for profit, leading his two assistants, Chen Longshi (played by Du Dewei) and Xiao Gangpao, to investigate for a long time but to no avail. One day, a theater troupe comes to the island to perform, and Shi Chun, suspecting a collusion between the troupe and the villagers to smuggle drugs, investigates, inadvertently leading to the troupe's Jiu Jie (played by Wu Junru) falling in love with him at first sight. That night, Jiu Jie, along with A Qiu (played by Chen Shulan) and Teacher Lin (played by Lu Guanting), accidentally obtains a treasure map leaked by the villagers. The three attempt to claim the village's treasures for themselves, but their actions awaken the Qin corpse, unleashing a vengeful spirit that goes on a killing spree in the village. To eliminate the demons, Shi Chun ventures into danger in search of an ancient treasure—the Zhong Kui Sword.
