Bestselling romance novelist Joan (Kathleen Turner) and her boyfriend Jack (Michael Douglas) originally planned to temporarily move to New York, but the romantically inclined Jack wants to change the plan and sail to Europe, which further causes Joan to doubt the authenticity of her life.
