Mike (Jesse Eisenberg) is a complete nerd who has never set foot outside his small hometown. By day, Mike works as a cashier at a supermarket, and in his free time, he enjoys drawing comics. However, the characters and stories he creates will never be known to the public. Phoebe (Kristen Stewart) is Mike's girlfriend, and his greatest wish is to overcome his inner fears and take Phoebe on a vacation to Hawaii. What confounds Mike is why, in his ordinary life, waves of mutant agents suddenly appear, intent on taking his life. However, when the situation escalates and threatens the entire town and Phoebe's safety, the power hidden within Mike is unleashed, transforming him into a ruthless killing machine.
