The sudden death of Tommy's father (played by Anton Yelchin) throws his family into chaos. With no one to take care of them, the household becomes a mess, and his mother spends her days crying and despondent. In this dire situation, Tommy enters a restless and troubled adolescence, and with nowhere to vent his frustrations, he can only find release by acting out mischievously. After dropping out of school, Tommy takes a job at a deli, responsible for deliveries. Tommy hangs out with his friend Palupas (played by Robin Williams), who is a "grown-up child" with a mature appearance but an immature mind, and their relationship is sincere and deep. During an unexpected incident, Tommy meets a prostitute named Leti (played by Erykah Badu), who introduces him to the adult world, allowing him to experience the sweetness and bitterness of love. An unexpected event destroys Tommy's free life, ending not only his present but also impacting his future.
