The American cartoonist Wellerman is eccentric and headstrong; he travels to Paris with his wife. This is his first trip in his life, and he seizes the opportunity of attending a comic exhibition to actually track down his beloved daughter. His daughter is studying literature at the University of Paris, and coincidentally her French professor is a fan of Wellerman's comics, so he invites the American family to visit his countryside property, leading to a series of comedic episodes, and of course, in the end, the daughter finds true love.
