The story takes place in Germany in 1961, where recently discharged soldier Emil (played by Dennis Mojen) arrives at the DEFA Film Company in Babelsberg, thanks to a position his brother Alexander (played by Ken Duken) has secured for him. Clearly, a new world that Emil has never encountered is about to unfold before his eyes. During a crowd scene task, Emil meets a girl named Milou (played by Emilia Schüle), who is the dance double for the popular star Beatrice (played by Ellenie Salvo González). Milou's graceful dancing and gentle personality quickly captivate Emil, and after a series of passionate advances, she finally agrees to have dinner with him. However, Milou is leaving for France the next day, and Emil decides to surprise her before she departs.
