The story takes place in the bustling Blue Whale City, where Gui Bao (voiced by Wang Yunfei) is a half-baked scientist who invents all sorts of strange gadgets, causing quite a bit of trouble and getting into many humorous situations. Consequently, the exasperated mayor issued a ban to prohibit Gui Bao from making any more inventions. One day, Gui Bao receives a mysterious invitation to participate in the top cosmic robot invention contest held on Ji Mei Star, and he sets off excitedly on his journey. His friends A Qing (voiced by Yang Tianxiang), A Tao (voiced by Tang Xiaoxi), and Chun Niu (voiced by Shan Xin) accidentally board Gui Bao's spaceship and go with him to Ji Mei Star. Gui Bao ultimately wins the robot invention contest, but just as they prepare to return to Earth with this supreme honor, they discover that their spaceship has malfunctioned.
