Marcello (played by Marcello Mastroianni), Philippe (played by Philippe Noiret), Hugo (played by Ugo Tognazzi), and Michel (played by Michel Piccoli) are four successful yet spiritually empty middle-aged men. Faced with a world devoid of passion, they decide to embrace their deaths in an exceedingly exaggerated manner through ultimate pleasure. They drive to a remote villa, which becomes their place of demise, and soon a ludicrous yet lavish feast begins. The four men completely abandon their humanity and let their primal instincts run wild. To add excitement to this death banquet, they invite three prostitutes and a primary school teacher to join them. However, the prostitutes soon leave in disgust, while the enthusiasm of the primary school teacher appears to exceed even that of these four insane men.
