Marnie Watson (played by Famke Janssen) is married to Mike (played by Michael Paré), a police officer who is corrupt outside and abuses his wife at home. Unable to endure the long-term abuse, Marnie ultimately kills her husband. After spending seven years in prison, well-behaved Marnie is allowed to serve the remaining six months of her sentence at home in New York, during which she must wear an electronic ankle monitor to ensure she does not exceed a 100-foot range.
