This is a hilarious romantic comedy featuring the famous scientist Einstein (Walter Matthau), who is quite concerned about the lifelong affairs of his niece Katherine (Meg Ryan). Katherine's requirement for a partner is someone with exceptional intelligence, so although psychologist James (Stephen Fry) may lack in character, he meets her primary condition. However, Einstein sees potential in Ed (Tim Robbins), a high school dropout worker. Despite Ed's average IQ, Einstein discovers that he has qualities that could make him a good husband. How to convince Katherine to fall for Ed becomes a headache for Einstein and his group of brilliant scientist friends. Meanwhile, the overly confident James sets up obstacles to try and make Ed look foolish.
