Victor (Bill Nighy) is a top professional hitman on the verge of retirement who is experiencing a midlife crisis. He has lived a solitary and monotonous life as a middle-aged man. His mother constantly pressures him to find a woman to carry on the family line and "inherit the killer gene in the family blood." One day, he is hired by gangster boss Ferguson (Rupert Everett) to kill a con artist named Rose (Emily Blunt), who uses forged famous paintings. However, during the operation, he develops inexplicable feelings for the beautiful and passionate Rose. At a critical moment, he not only spares her but also begins to protect her. While on the run, he encounters a young man named Tony (Rupert Grint), who is working part-time in a parking lot. Tony mistakenly believes Victor is a private detective and wants to be his apprentice. After Ferguson discovers that Victor failed to complete his task, he sends "the second-best hitman in the business" to finish the job and eliminate the "breaching" Victor and his apprentice. What kind of experiences will develop among these three seemingly unrelated individuals—Victor, Rose, and Tony?
