One winter in Beijing, a boy named Xiao Bo (Yu Bo) from another province worked in a clothing store. Because of his diligent and earnest character, he won the favor of the store owner, Sister Qing (Yang Qing), who not only let him stay at her home but also enthusiastically introduced him to her girlfriend, A Meng (Yu Mengjie), hoping the two would become a couple. However, Xiao Bo was not interested in the girl. Due to the increasingly cold relationship with her husband, Da Kang, Sister Qing moved in with A Meng. Soon after, Xiao Bo quit his job because of an incident where Da Kang attempted to assault him and went to stay with a fellow townsman named Chong Chong (Wei Jiangang). Chong Chong fancied himself a top-tier toilet literature writer, collecting "colorful language" from various public restrooms. When Xiao Bo arrived, he was in the process of starting a magazine called "Brilliant Toilets." His gay roommate, Gui Gui (Cui Zien), had set up a radio show called "Toilet Space," which had only one listener: Chong Chong. Xiao Bo's presence broke the originally stable relationship between Chong Chong and Gui Gui.
