Elias (played by Mads Mikkelsen) and Gabriel (played by David Dencik) are brothers with a deep bond but very different personalities. Gabriel teaches at a university, leading a modest and lonely life, while the free-spirited Elias enjoys the company of women, living a carefree and happy life. One day, the brothers receive an unexpected phone call with the news of their father's passing. In a video left by their father, they are shocked to discover that they are not his biological children, and their real father is currently living on the Orkney Islands. Thus, Elias and Gabriel embark on a journey to the Orkney Islands, but upon arrival, they find that everything on the island is vastly different from what they had imagined.
