The story begins on a deserted island inhabited by a group of animals. Among them is the brave parrot Mike (voiced by David Howard Thornton), who has an endless curiosity for new things and a longing for the world beyond the island. However, the other animals do not share this sentiment; the island is their safe haven, and the area outside poses a deadly danger to them. One day, a shipwrecked merchant ship crashes onto the island, bringing them their only human guest, Robinson (voiced by Matthias Schweighöfer). The parrot becomes friends with Robinson first. Initially, a small misunderstanding arises due to Robinson's inability to communicate with the other animals, but soon a genuine friendship forms between them.
