Penelope (Christina Ricci) is born into an aristocratic family, but her family is cursed, and she is born with a pig's nose. Penelope feels very insecure about her appearance and is too ashamed to interact with anyone. To break this curse, she must receive a kiss of true love to restore her beauty. As Penelope grows up, her parents are eager to arrange her marriage, and Penelope also hopes to find someone who truly loves her to lift the curse. However, every man who sees Penelope's true face runs away in horror, leaving both her and her parents feeling embarrassed and frustrated. In the past, every boy who had seen Penelope's true face signed a contract promising not to reveal this secret. However, a noble heir leaked the information. Reporter Raymond, who once wanted to know Penelope's true appearance, got his right eye injured by Penelope's mother. At this moment, he partners with the noble heir to hire someone to impersonate a suitor and meet Penelope, intending to capture her true face on camera. But the hired Max (James McAvoy) is a fallen noble, and Penelope mistakenly believes he is indifferent to her appearance, which deeply moves her. In reality, Max has never seen Penelope, and after a long interaction separated by a glass screen, they are both attracted to each other. However, feeling their status difference, Max quietly leaves. In the end, can Penelope find true love and receive the kiss of true love to break the cruel curse?
