The overweight, slovenly leftist director Mike Malron (played by Kevin P. Farley) is dedicated to exposing the dark sides of American politics, military, economy, and healthcare. His documentaries have won international awards (hinting at Michael Moore). He takes great pride in his achievements, and there is a group of fervent fans in the U.S. who idolize him. Some high-flying individuals like Malron even propose the cancellation of Independence Day on July 4th and he has launched a publicity campaign to promote this idea. At this time, the spirits of three important figures in American history—Kennedy (played by Chriss Anglin), Washington (played by Jon Voight), and Patton (played by Kelsey Grammer)—visit Malron in succession. They repeatedly transport Malron into hypothetical historical scenarios, showing him the various consequences that might arise from indulging in absolute democracy and terrorism.
