In the 1920s, to escape the turmoil of mainland China, the renowned martial artist Fei Chai (played by Hu Feng) comes to Hong Kong with his son Yu Shu (played by Qian Jiale). For safety reasons, he adopts an alias and works as a barber. Although his income is meager, he values the peace it brings. The only thing troubling him is Yu Shu's lack of interest in learning and his obsession with reading comics, which he has scolded him for multiple times to no avail. One day, Yu Shu finds himself at the police commissioner's house and accidentally discovers that the commissioner is involved in illegal human trafficking with gangster Wang Zhengli. Outraged, Yu Shu sees Wang attempting to take advantage of the commissioner's maid, Xiao Ru (played by Luo Meiwei). Unable to contain his anger, Yu Shu fights back, rescuing Xiao Ru and putting himself at odds with both the commissioner and Wang Zhengli. From that point on, Fei Chai and Yu Shu are unable to live in peace, and just when they can't withstand the vicious attacks from the criminal underworld, the comic books come to their aid.
