Meng Dawai (played by Wang Xun) has always hoped to become a writer, but only after truly embarking on this path does he realize just how perilous it is. While his career hits a bottleneck, the relationship between Meng Dawai and his wife Yang Xiaonan (played by Yu Shasha) also descends to a freezing point. Not only that, Meng Dawai is diagnosed with cancer, and his days are numbered. Disheartened, Meng Dawai decides to buy a life insurance policy, naming his wife as the beneficiary.
