Rose (Naomi Watts) is a talented painter who, despite owning land worth millions, chooses to live a nomadic lifestyle with little food or stability. This woman marries a man named Rex (Woody Harrelson), who is even more outrageous, a dreamer who never lets go of his bottle. They have four children: Janet (Brie Larson), Lori (Sarah Snook), Brian (Josh Barclay Caras), and Maureen (Brigette Lundy-Paine). Although their parents are highly unreliable, the children grow up in a free-spirited environment and enjoy a happy childhood.
