Brian (played by Bradley Cooper) is a weapons contractor who has made a name for himself at a young age and reached the peak of his career. One day, he is sent by his boss to the military base in Honolulu, Hawaii, where a spy satellite is being developed and requires Brian's supervision. Excitedly, he embarks on his journey. What Brian does not expect is that at his destination, he will be working alongside a pilot named Allison (played by Emma Stone), who is cold and unyielding, truly a serious and uninteresting woman. This frustrates Brian, and at the same time, he still holds unrealistic fantasies about his ex-girlfriend Tracy (played by Rachel McAdams). He contacts Tracy, hoping to rekindle their romance.
