Danny (played by Adam Sandler) experienced a failed romance in his youth and, feeling deceived by women, he accidentally discovers the clever use of a wedding ring, leading him to impersonate a married man and engage in casual flings. Years later, Danny is a successful plastic surgeon who meets a beautiful girl named Palmer (played by Brooklyn Decker) at a party, and they hit it off for the night. The next morning, he wakes up to find that Palmer mistakenly believes he is married because of the wedding ring, and she expresses her desire to exit the complicated relationship. To win back the girl he likes, Danny has no choice but to fabricate another lie and pleads with his hospital assistant, Katherine (played by Jennifer Aniston), to pretend to be his soon-to-be ex-wife. However, the lies snowball into a larger problem, involving Katherine's two children and Danny’s brother, Eddie, among others. When the group goes on vacation to Hawaii and encounters Katherine's arch-nemesis, Devlin (played by Nicole Kidman), the situation spirals out of control in unexpected ways...
