Takagi Akihito (played by Kamiki Ryunosuke), a clever classmate, approaches high school student Mashiro Moritaka (played by Sato Takeru), who excels in drawing. Akihito proclaims his love for comics but lacks artistic talent, and he wishes to partner with Mashiro to break into the manga industry. Mashiro's uncle, Kawaguchi Taro (played by Kudo Kankuro), was once a well-known manga artist but died young due to overwork and serialization cancellations, which makes Mashiro acutely aware of the industry's harshness. After being persuaded by Akihito, Mashiro finally agrees. The two decide to self-submit their work to the prestigious weekly magazine "JUMP" under Shueisha and initially gain the approval of editor Hattori Tetsu (played by Yamada Takayuki). Meanwhile, a genius high school student, Niizuma Eiji (played by Someta Shota), emerges, driving them to compete against him recklessly. Unknowingly, they have stepped into the splendid yet brutally harsh world of manga... This film is adapted from the manga of the same name created by Ohba Tsugumi (original work) and Obata Takeshi (art), who are known for the super popular manga "Death Note."
