Sabina (Audrey Hepburn) was born in the wealthy La Ropée estate, but she is not a rich heiress; she is the daughter of a mere driver at the estate. Unfortunately, Sabina has fallen for the charming playboy David (William Holden), who has never regarded her as worthy. Following her father's wishes, she goes to Paris to study culinary arts. During her time there, the maturing Sabina exudes an incredible charm. Meanwhile, to advance the family business, David is in the midst of an intense engagement with Elizabeth (Martha Hyer). At this critical juncture, a well-educated Sabina returns to the estate, immediately capturing David's attention, and their feelings quickly escalate despite opposition from their elders. To protect his brother's engagement, Linus (Humphrey Bogart) decides to approach Sabina, hoping to weaken her attachment to David. As they spend time together, unexpected feelings arise between Linus and Sabina. Upon discovering this, David fights with Linus, while Sabina mistakenly believes Linus's feelings are merely a scheme. Heartbroken, she flees to Paris, and soon after, Linus also sets out to follow her.
