In 2030, humanity entered a heated phase of the space race thanks to superluminal communication technology. The Planetary United Aerospace Group seized the opportunity to launch the Mars exploration spacecraft Mars One, but for unknown reasons, the mission ended in failure. Six years later, astronaut Mackenzie Wilson (played by Katee Sackhoff) pilots a spacecraft to Mars again, only to quickly discover that the dominant force on board is actually the artificial intelligence named Aldi.
