During the Tang dynasty, Prince Wuli Khan of the Great Moon Kingdom (played by Urijin) escapes to Didao for refuge. He receives help from Li Cunshan and his daughter, as well as guidance from the high monk Suonan Jian of Wolong Temple, leading him to let go of his hatred and focus on diligent practice. However, his uncle, Gege Er, who intends to usurp the throne, is still after him, secretly plotting to kill him to silence him. Driven to desperation, Wuli Khan escapes back to the Great Moon Kingdom, eager to restore his father's former army's power but, due to the departure of his lover Li Chenxuan (played by Xia Qing), he mistakenly directs his anger towards the Tang dynasty and raises troops to attack Didao, almost killing his own son in the process. Ultimately, inspired by Suonan Jian's spirit of "sacrificing oneself to tame the tiger," he comes to a new understanding of himself, hands the Great Moon Kingdom over to the Tang dynasty, and returns to Wolong Temple to become a monk and cultivate himself.
