In the heart of the Amazon jungle, adventurer scientist Tulio (voiced by Rodrigo Santoro) and Linda (voiced by Leslie Mann) discover the nearly extinct wild blue Spix's macaw. The couple announces this astonishing news to the world via television, and upon seeing this, Jewel (voiced by Anne Hathaway) persuades her husband Blu (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg) to return to their ancestral home with their three mischievous and adorable parrot babies, who have become accustomed to human civilization, to find their kind. The parrot family sets off on an exciting and fun-filled aerial journey. Meanwhile, an illegal logging group, seeing the news, quietly takes action to prevent Tulio and Linda from obstructing their crimes. On the other hand, the cockatoo Nigel, who has a longstanding grudge against Blu, discovers Blu's whereabouts and takes action in anger.
