In the Seika era (starting from 1989), in order to improve the chaotic and corrupt social atmosphere, the Japanese government enacted the "Media Goodness Law" and established a special department to seal and destroy all books that could affect people's physical and mental health. At the same time, freedom of speech was brutally suppressed and restricted. To defend free thought, an organization called the "Library Self-Defense Organization's Book Division" was formed. They took up arms to protect books, and many sacrificed their lives for this cause. Ikki Kasahara, a passionate girl (played by Nana Eikura) who was seen as a "prince" during high school, decides to join the Book Division, but the instructor responsible for her training, Tōka Jōsō (played by Junichi Okada), seems to always deliberately trouble her. Nevertheless, the girl becomes a member of the special book troops through her efforts. In the days that follow, the friendship and trust between Kasahara and her instructor, as well as her peer Hikaru Tezuka (played by Sōta Fukushi), deepen. Soon, a major event impacting freedom of speech arrives, and the fateful war between the Book Division and the Media Goodness Team unfolds... This film is adapted from the first part of Hiroshi Arikawa's "Library Series."
